🎉 Team Spotlight: KaraMeet Kara, a member of our Entertainment Team, helping coordinate all the incredible programming you’ll see at Omatsuri!A favourite memory: “I have always loved bringing friends to Omatsuri to show and share with them my love for Japanese culture, arts, food and more! Seeing their eyes light up the first time they try Okonomiyaki, or watching them bop along to Taiko, always resonates with me. These are memories I cherish.”What she wishes more people knew: “Omatsuri is for everyone! It’s a great exploration into a new culture, and the community is there to welcome everyone with open arms.”What keeps her coming back: “The ability to experience Japanese culture authentically in Canada. This is one of the few opportunities to learn more and be immersed in the culture, and that is truly special.”What surprised her the first time: “The food! I had never known there were so many places doing authentic Japanese food in Calgary. 📸 Volunteer Spotlight: TakuMeet Taku, one of the talented photographers helping capture your favourite Omatsuri moments! Beyond photography, Taku also helps coordinate our indoor market vendors and pitches in across several other festival activations.What he wishes more people knew: “Upstairs! There are some really interesting things up there, plus really cool seating.” (Consider this your official heads-up, straight from the team.)Why he keeps coming back: “Because of the tight-knit community and all the wonderful volunteers and members of the community.”Taku’s one word for Omatsuri: Community.
