Program Summary
Launched in January 2024, Japanglish is a lively language exchange that has welcomed over 400 participants. The program is built on interaction—there’s no formal teacher. Instead, everyone gets a chance to teach or learn English or Japanese based on their strengths. Each session is divided into two 15-minute parts, one for each language, and participants rotate tables to meet many new people.
Japanglish is more than just a language class—it’s a friendly community. After your first registration, you can drop in whenever you have time. You’ll also get weekly emails with updates on upcoming events from both the Calgary Japanese Community Association (CJCA) and the Japanglish group.
Make your experience even better with the Japanglish Passport. For just $4, you can buy a passport that gives you one stamp per session. Collect 5 stamps for a sticker, 15 for a T-shirt, and 40 for a foodie treat. Join us to learn, share, and have fun with language!
How to Participate
- Registration:
- First-time registration is required
- After registering, you can casually drop in for sessions without signing up each time
- Group Size:
- Average of 30–40 participants per session
- Weekly Updates:
- Receive email updates with upcoming events and news from CJCA and the Japanglish community

- When: Every Friday, 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM

- $5 drop-in fee (cash collected on-site)
