Program Summary
Hyottoko Dance was originated in Japan a few hundred years ago and is practiced to this day in many communities in
Japan. The dance is a repetition of simple moves – men and women dance together, wearing humorous looking
masks called hyottoko, okame and kitsune, head covers and ukatas.
It’s a lot of fun and a way to introduce traditional Japanese culture to Canada.
